Professor Jennifer Jenkins is the Chair of Global Englishes and Director of the Centre for Global Englishes in Modern Languages at the University of Southampton. She studied English language and literature, Old Icelandic, and linguistics/applied linguistics at the Universities of Leicester, Oxford, and London, and in the earlier years of her career, was first an English language teacher then teacher trainer. From 1992 to mid-2007 she worked at King's College London, where she designed and directed the MA in ELT & Applied Linguistics, and since then have been Professor of Global Englishes at the University of Southampton. She was Reviews Editor of the International Journal of Applied Linguistics from 2004 through 2009, was a founding editor of the Journal of English as a Lingua Franca (JELF), and her currently a member of several international journal Editorial Boards. She is also founding editor of the book series Developments in English as a Lingua Franca (DeGruyter Mouton) and founding director of the Centre for Global Englishes at the University. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences.
